Under Berlin Film Festival

The long-anticipated second edition of the Under Berlin Film Festival, Berlin’s international festival of unconventional, experimental, and avant-garde cinema, will be hosted for the first time at Lichtblick-Kino!

Focusing on the diffusion of innovative cinematographies, its eclectic program includes feature films, short fiction, animation, and documentary films from across the globe, including Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Cuba, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Romania, the Philippines, Slovenia, Switzerland, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Finland, Norway, and the USA. All films will be screened in their original language with English subtitles.

This edition will feature 38 films, including the World Premiere of the Dutch film Tori: Book 1 by Roy Rezaäli, who will also be present for a Q&A following the screening.

New to this year’s festival are three exciting sections:
Under the Light, with a special focus on Argentine Cinema, Non Humans, dedicated to exploring new technologies in audiovisuals, particularly AI, and Underline, a parallel section showcasing experimental short films inspired by literature, which will be continuously screened from 4 to 9 November at Andenbuch KulturRaum (Tempelhof-Kreuzberg).

UBFF is part of the UNDER Transterritorial Film Network, which is celebrating its 20th edition this year. The primary aim of this networked festival is to showcase films that take risks—whether in terms of production, subject matter, or aesthetics—that often leave them on the margins of traditional exhibition circuits.

Direction and General Production: Peri Azar / 8A-110 Collective
Programming: Marcelo Páez / Peri Azar
Collaborators: Sofía Fontenla, Sören Schubert and Randolfo Camarotto.
